My Mediterranean terrace garden now has plum tomatoes πŸ… growing from a vine. Yippppeeeee... oh! What a wonderful feeling it is to grow something and see it blossom in front of your eyes. Now where is that balsamic vinegar and those rocket leaves. #IConfessIAmACactusKiller #IGrewThat #tomatoesonavine #plumtomatoes #MediterraneanGarden #terracegarden #plantlife #πŸ…πŸŒ± πŸ…πŸŒ±πŸ… #fromseedtothis
Hello beautiful moon πŸŒ“. Thank you for visiting me again. Bright and shiny and silvery and oh! so mesmeric. Happy Spring Lantern Festival. #CNY #mesmericmoon #lunarnewyear #moonrising #SpringLantern
Happy valentine’s day everyone. Flowers, love, chocolate cakes and all things red and pink. πŸ’‹πŸŒΉπŸŽˆπŸ’˜#xoxo #stvalentine #14feb #bemyvalentine #valentinesday
The beautiful #bauhinia - the flower of Hong Kong that is also called Hong Kong Orchid. The mildly fragrant pale purple flower blooms from November to March and is represented on Hong Kong flag. It is wonderful when countries put nature as a part of their symbolism. #hksar #hongkongflag #thebeautifulbauhinia #natureinanurbanjungle #orchid #hkorchid
Now, that is what they call β€œcrystal clear”. Fiords in Norway πŸ‡³πŸ‡΄ are among the most beautiful I have ever seen. It is beauty untouched. #fiords #arctic #norway #crystalclear #nopollution #πŸ‡³πŸ‡΄ #subzero #natureisbeautiful #beautyuntouched #postcardsfromnorway

A #selfie of me in freezing πŸ₯ΆπŸ₯ΆπŸ₯ΆJukkasjarvi, Sweden. Even with sunshine, the daytime temperatures were at -28 degrees. Frosty hair and eyelashes, and absolutely painful hands and toes. #❄️⛄️❄️⛄️❄️⛄️ #β„οΈπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺβ„οΈπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺβ„οΈπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ #snowysweden #frosty #winterhols #Brrrrrr
There is something so, so special about re-living a part of your childhood. One of my most vivid memories is of #abba. I grew up listening to their songs on my cassette tape, memorising each word. So imagine my delight visiting the #abbamuseum in #stockholm and opening up a part of my childhood that made me so, so happy. It was like being inside of a time warp, only in full colour, giving me a chance to bring back those happy memories by singing my favourite songs. Music has such a powerful way of evoking memories no? Thank you ABBA for making my childhood so special and evergreen. #abbasongsareforever #gimmegimmegimme #winnertakesitall #childhoodmemories #evergreensongs
Of all the characteristics in a person, resilience is my most favourite. I admire those who demonstrate this character in the face of adversity. This mulberry plant teaches me resilience. It was battered in the typhoon and shed all its leaves; almost seemed like it won’t live. I hoped it won’t give up on me and it didn’t. Spring is almost here and it is sprouting new shoots. #nevergiveup #newshoots #newbeginnings #mulberrybush #resilience #newlife #plantlife #πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ 🌱
Did you know that congee - rice porridge eaten as breakfast in many parts of Asia including #Hong Kong and #Singapore comes from #Tamil word - Kanjee? I remember eating thin rice mixed with a larger quantity of water until it has porridge like consistency when I was sick as it is easily digestible. It is believed the Portuguese brought congee where they went and today we have this humble bowl of thoroughly satisfying breakfast connecting pretty much all of Asia. Tastes all the more delicious with the morning paper - another daily staple. #congee #congeebowl #thedailystaple #heartybreakfast
A new dawn, a new day, a new year in sunny #Gisborne - the city that sees the first light. Located on the easternmost tip of the world, Gisborne is the first city that sees the sun rise. Wishing you all wonderful new beginnings and much success in all that you plan to do this year. #happy2019 #happynewyear2019 #citythatseesthefirstlight #firstlight #nz #nzsummer #newbeginnings #nofilter
Nan’s garden as it is affectionately known, has seen many Christmasas, bird songs, yawning cats and excitable dogs, possums, hoots from the Morpok owl, pool parties, BBQ evenings spotting shooting stars, treasure hunts, squealing children and countless hours spent lazing in the sun with piles of magazines and jugs of lemonade by your side. #nzsummer #nansgarden #endlesssummer #purenz #newzealandvacations #Magnolia #Gisborne #lazydaysofsummer 🌞 🌲 πŸ‹ 🍊 πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ πŸŒŠπŸ‘™β›±πŸšπŸŒˆ
Gisborne or Gizzy as the locals affectionately call it, looks just like an American town. An historic place where Captain Cook first set foot when he discovered New Zealand, it has some of the most beautiful buildings. The white building is where Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth stood at the balcony during their Royal Tour in February, 1977. #gisborne #gisbornenz #gizzy #newzealand #newzealandvacations #americantownscape #captaincook

The Kiwis have a wry sense of humour. Flip flops are known as jandals in New Zealand. A house along the beach had converted it into a decoration nailing jandals on its staircase and calling it a Jandal House. Indeed if you live near the beach, jandals, towels and togs or swimwear is all you will ever need. πŸ‘™β›±πŸπŸŒŠπŸŒž#100%pureNZ #jandals #jandalhouse #nzsummer #xmasdownunder #newzealand #🌞🌊

About Me

I packed 2 bags in 1996, thinking I will return in a year or two.

That journey has not ended.

I currently live in Singapore and have travelled over a 100 countries. But travelling a country and ticking off a bucket list alone is not enough. I like to experience its culture, understand its history, learn about its people, savour its food and go deep into its roots.

And so, the adventure continues…
