An encounter with the lovely Carrie from @carriek_rocks - a #Singapore jewellery brand I have come to love and an entrepreneur I so admire for leaving the advertising business and creating a successful brand over the past 10 years. And just when I didn’t need another reason to like Carrie K 💍, there is the old #mcsaatchi connection, Carrie’s old agency. We chatted about Charles & Maurice Saatchi and advertising in the old times. That’s the beauty about advertising- you meet fellow friends and peers in the oddest of places and there is always an instant connect. Wishing Carrie the very best in her journey as a jeweller. #ABriefEncounter #💎 #💍 #carrierocksmyworld #SantaComesEarly #🎅 #ATrueFan
There are some times in a day that need very little to feel at peace. A steaming hot cuppa #coffee can do just that for me. ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
There are days when the sun makes a dramatic entrance into my life. Here it is glowing like a beacon from behind clouds making everything gold and glowing. . . . #hongkong #saikung #sunrise #mornings #🌅 #itsallyellow💛 #goldnglowing #worldwithoutcompass
How can a country continue to outdo itself every single time? A visit to @jewelchangiairport makes you realise, there are no full stops for #Singapore. It keeps reinventing itself with each new avatar more beautiful than the previous one. Just when I thought #GardensByTheBay and #changit4 was the epitome of beauty, #jewelchangi takes your breath away. The newly constructed airport has made its #airport a destination so exquisite you’d want to spend hours here. #inawe
Hello Bangalore. What a fantastic welcome you have put up for me. #halo #haloaroundthesun #bangalore #hellohalo
A beloved photo of me with a few days old lion cub at Kruger National Park in South Africa 🇿🇦 many years ago. The playful little fella gave me painful scratch, which I proudly wore as a souvenir for many days until it disappeared. One of the happiest memories spent listening to the lions roar in the night as I slept in the bush camp. #hakunamatata #kruger #safari #bushcamp #lioncub #🦁 #inthejunglethemightyjungle #🇿🇦
The bustle that is #Bombay. It is a city that lives and lets live. It has a place for all - the gods of #Bollywood, the sultans of #cricket, the business tycoons, the powerful elites, the politicians, communities from all over India, immigrants, daily wage earners and beggars who call the streets their home - each of them embrace life and everything it brings. No other city matches its vigour. I still call it Bombay. #Mumbai #Bombay #LiveAndLetLive #APlaceForAll
Knesset Eliyahoo #Synagogue in #Mumbai was built by Jacob ellias Sassoon and Albert Sassoon in the memory of their father Eliyahoo David Sassoon. Designed by Bombay architects Gostling and Morris it was completed in 1884. The synagogue was used by #Bombay’s Baghdadi and been #Israeli #Jewish community. David Sassoon (1792-1864) the founder of Sassoon dynasty arrived in india in 1828. Members of the Jewish community came to india between 1000-70 CE when the Temple of Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans. There are three Jewish communities in India: Bene Jews, Cochin Jews and Baghdadi jews. Most Jews in india are #Bene Israel. Each group maintained their separate identities. Bene Israel were the most Indian in their attire.

For a fisherman 🎣, the fish 🐟 is his daily bread. Take that away and you take away not only his food, but his livelihood. . If a #fisherman were to be a storyteller, he would tell his children fairytales about flying fish, colourful corals, about faraway islands like #paradises, about glorious sunsets, and even #mermaids 🧜‍♀️. . Here in #saikung, the fishermen live humbly selling their catch and dried fish from their boats that become makeshift stalls. The #sea smells of saltiness, like their sweat, (and petrol) drowning any probable fairytales. . A fisherman found a teddy bobbing in the water and tied it to chair near the wharf from where he watches them on. If only the teddy could speak. . . #IfOnlyTheTeddyCanSpeak #TheTalesOfAFisherman #1001fairytales #hongkong #worldwithoutcompass
How can you resist that? Summer on a plate. #pavlova #summeronaplate
As North and South Korea place a joint bid for 2023 #WomenOlympics, it marks an historic turning point for countries long divided to be united via #sports. As with #Myanmar, the #DPRK will become a new country to explore (and to exploit). Seen here are the #cheerleaders for the 100-day campaign, motivating and celebrating their #comrades’ efforts towards nation-building without a break for 100 days. Smiling happy pictures of their 2 leaders in the background are omnipresent. #100daycampaign #DPRK #jointbid #unitedbysports #behindtheironcurtain
Uzbeki #folkmusic borrows from #Sufi poetry and #Persian, #Tajik and #Afghani music. UNESCO has included Shashmaqam, a unique genre of music from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, on its list of Masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mankind. Frankly, I couldn’t take my eyes off the danseuse’s headdress, colourful garb, graceful dance movements and her exquisite jewellery. . #uzbekistan🇺🇿 #uzbekistan #uzbekmusic #uzbekmusic🎶👍 #tajikistan #tajik #music #bukhara #samarkand #khiva
Throwback to 3 years ago when I visited one of the 7 wonders of the modern world - #Petra. Lying deep inside the ravine, it was once a fiercely-guarded secret by the #Bedouin tribes. Al Khazneh or the #Treasury is the first temple you see from the Siq or the shaft. What treasure did it hold? We may never know. One thing it does hold is mystery and tremendous beauty. . . . #SevenWondersOfTheWorld #Jordan #AlKhazneh #Nabateans #Siq
Imagine standing in the middle of a frozen lake about 145 kms north of the Arctic Circle, in the heart of Sami country, looking up at the sky where nature paints its most stunning canvas – the Northern Lights. It is probably the closest you will feel to nature and how generously it draws up a motion picture of dancing lights just for you. . . #sapmi #scandinavia #nordic #northernlights #acrtic #sweden🇸🇪 #snowyarctic #worldwithoutcompass . . Hong Kong, one of the most vibrant cities I have ever lived in comes alive at night. It is a city that never sleeps. A place that knows no full stops. A city with such zest for life. #hongkong Kong lives it to the max. . . . I❤️HK #i❤️hk #fragrantharbour #i❤️🇭🇰 #citythatneversleeps

My Mediterranean terrace garden now has plum tomatoes 🍅 growing from a vine. Yippppeeeee... oh! What a wonderful feeling it is to grow something and see it blossom in front of your eyes. About Me

I packed 2 bags in 1996, thinking I will return in a year or two.

That journey has not ended.

I currently live in Singapore and have travelled over a 100 countries. But travelling a country and ticking off a bucket list alone is not enough. I like to experience its culture, understand its history, learn about its people, savour its food and go deep into its roots.

And so, the adventure continues…
